About Us
Cincinnati Custom Signs is a full-service sign company serving businesses throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. We design, fabricate, and install high-quality custom signage, and we pride ourselves on delivering projects on time and in full compliance with all local regulations. We’re a growing team looking for a detail-oriented professional to help streamline our permitting process.
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and organized Part-Time Sign Permitting Specialist to manage the permitting process for our sign projects from start to finish. This role is critical to keeping projects moving smoothly and ensuring compliance with municipal zoning, electrical, and sign codes. The position is ideal for someone with experience in permitting, administrative coordination, or the construction/sign industry who wants a flexible part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and complete permitting applications for zoning, electrical, sign variances, and any other required approvals across multiple jurisdictions in the Greater Cincinnati area.
- Collaborate with our in-house graphic designers to prepare and submit accurate site plans, elevations, renderings, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with structural engineers when stamped engineering drawings or calculations are required.
- Track permit applications through the review process, proactively following up with building departments and planning offices.
- Respond promptly to reviewer comments, requests for additional information, revisions, or plan changes.
- Ensure permits are approved and issued in a timely manner.
- Schedule and coordinate final inspections after sign installation, confirming all requirements are met for sign-off.
- Maintain organized digital and physical records of all permit-related documents.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with municipal permitting processes (zoning, building, electrical, or sign permits strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with local codes and ordinances in Hamilton County and surrounding Ohio jurisdictions is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with government officials, designers, engineers, and clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; experience with permitting portals (e.g., online submission systems) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Reliable transportation (occasional visits to municipal offices may be required).
What We Offer
- Flexible part-time schedule to fit your availability within our core business hours.
- Opportunity to grow with a local, established company.
- Supportive team environment.
- Competitive pay based on experience.
